I have been sticking with my resolution to do more (educational) activities with Maddox. So yesterday we walked to the store and bought a bag of white rice for about $1 came home and put it in a couple small bags, then added a tsp of rubbing alcohol and food coloring. He loved shaking it up and watching the colors seep into the rice. It was a great review of the different colors for him. I laid the rice out to dry overnight and took it outside to play with this morning. We brought spoons, small cups, and a couple of toys out to explore with the rice. The rice ended up all over the floor of course but it was all worth it as it turned into a couple of hours of fun and exploration. I am sure we will be finding colored rice for months to come!
